Listed below is a selection of workshops and courses in Advanced Geographixs , designed to broaden your geographical knowledge and skills. Your year planner allows you to enter at any time, although some of the courses are only available in selected blocks during the course of the year.

Through the ages Frisians have had a special relationship with the waters surrounding their native land. In good times the North Sea and Wadden Sea brought richness, an abundance of food and trade with distant shores. On the other hand the people of the low lying lands have been in constant struggle with the at times hostile waters. Well protected by huge dykes this now seems a struggle of the past.... Part of this course is in the Fries Museum, the Frisian Museum, in Leeuwarden, but with other options available: the Fryske Gea Visitor Centre in the Noarderleech, bordering the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.

Geo Fotografie - Geo Photography (VP 3, 4, 5)

Follow-on of introduction course (VF1), Geo Photography concentrates on the photography of geographical subjects, ranging from landscapes and geological features to man-made structures. Technical aspects as camera view point, lighting and the use of lenses and filters is also covered.

Luchtfotografie - Aerial Photography (VAP 4, 5)

Without doubt one of the most popular courses run by GeoGraphixs, this is your introduction into the fascinating world of aviation and aerial photography. Meet the challenges associated with this type of photography and enjoy observing the earth below. Please be aware of the high cost of this particular course, with the price of an average flying hour being around 180 euros. Some schools offer sponsorship.

Ever wanted to fly an aeroplane, this is your chance.
In preperation of your first flight, you will be introduced in the principles of flight, meteorology and the aircraft type. This part of the course is classroom only, but soon you'll head for Lelystad Airport. After meeting your MartinAir Flight School instructor, it's time for the pre-flight briefing. Our flying day is traditionally on the first Saturday of May, unless this day is in our May-break.
